This is applicable only for aeroplanes which have a maximum certificated take-off mass of ever 27 000kg and a seating capacity greater than 19 and where ATS obtain aeroplane position report messages at greater then 15-minutes intervals. The premise is that automatically capturing aircraft position data, either by ATS or the operator, can be used to fulfil aircraft tracking requirements.
